As usual on an Austin Friday night, there are a plethora of shows to choose from for your evening plans. I'll be starting the night off at the Do512 and Vinyl Entertainment Rooftop Party downtown, and hope you’ll come out and say hi. But if you didn’t RSVP, don’t fret; I’ll steer you through your many other venue options.
Local band Dikes of Holland have been playing a lot recently for a band without even a MySpace to their name; they’re at Beerland tonight with Bearclaw, Elvis, and Horns of Afrika opening. Elvis’s experimental, punk/garage rock aesthetic has had many local musicians professing their love, and a band other bands love is never a bad idea to check out.
Also around the Red River district: Cartright at Creekside, the Invincible Czars at Emo’s indoors, and InSite Magazine’s Relaunch Party at Emo’s Lounge with the Banner Year and She Craves, among others. These are all definitely bands you’ll want to check out, if not tonight then sometime soon.
Other great options for your Friday night include Black Joe Lewis at Antone’s, or Frank Smith’s residency with the Sad Accordions at Progress Coffee.
